It’s “Team Member Thursday”, and this week we are introducing Paul Gomez . We caught up with Paul to learn a little about his journey in the green industry:
How long have you been in the green industry? I began my career over 20 years ago having spent the past 17 with LMP. I began the same way most people do who are in the landscaping industry, and that is by working in the field as a member of a crew. It was there that I learned not only the constructive and practical means for maintaining various landscape materials, but also the visual impact a well maintained property can have. I worked hard to learn everything I could about landscaping providing myself the opportunity to take on the role of an Account Manager.
What do you like about the green industry? Outside of the fact that there is always something to learn, I enjoy working with the clients and the crew members. In order to provide clients with a level of service that exceeds their expectations one must have a strong working relationship with the crew members who service the property. This involves being hands on with them ensuring they have the tools and equipment to perform their jobs as well as looking out for their safety on a daily basis. The consistent efforts of strong productive teams make for happy clients. It is my daily goal to deliver quality to LMP’s clients so they have one less thing to worry about when it comes to managing their properties.
What designations or certifications have you obtained? I am Best Management Practices (BMP) certified, and am working on obtaining my Florida Certified Horticulture Professional designation through FNGLA.
What interesting hobbies do you have? I have been known to play a mean hand of poker.
What is your mantra or catch phrase? Why? “It’s not what you do, but what you don’t do”! In order to be successful, an individual needs to consider not only what they did to get there but the things they didn’t do that could have made a real difference.
