National Indoor Plant Week

National Indoor Plant Week, which occurs the third week of every September, was created to bring awareness to the benefits of having plant material within indoor environments.  The suggested benefits include the creation of oxygen, the removal of harmful carbon dioxide, cleaner air and noise reduction – all of which are believed to reduce stress and enhance productivity.  Let’s not forget that its great to have a piece of the outdoors on the corner of a desk when we are unable to enjoy Mother Nature’s beauty.

To help promote this great “holiday”, the Florida Nursery, Growers, and Landscape Association (FNGLA) has created a contest to recognize the Florida business owners who beautify their interiors office and/or building spaces with plants.   According to FNGLA, if you wish to nominate a business simply submit a photo of the plant materials, and post it to the  Florida Gardening’s Facebook page or Pinterest Board (links below).

Winners will be selected by a jury of professionals in the plant industry. More than one winning location is expected – awarded on merit of the location.
